International Doctoral Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering

Call for Submissions

3rd International Doctoral Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering (IDoESE 2008)

The 3rd International Doctoral Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering will be held in Kaiserslautern, Germany on October 8, 2008, during the 2008 Experimental Software Engineering Week. This symposium follows the success of the previous IDoESE 2006 and 2007, held jointly with the 2006 and 2007 Experimental Software Engineering Week, and the Doctoral Colloquium held jointly with METRICS 2005.

The objective of the symposium is to provide promising young researchers in empirical software engineering with the opportunity to present their works to the senior and young members of the empirical software engineering community. On the one hand, the symposium will provide an open forum for these works to be reviewed and discussed, so young researchers will be able to obtain feedback and guidance from the empirical software engineering community. On the other hand, the symposium will allow promising young researchers to present their innovative ideas, findings, and experiences to the empirical software engineering community, discuss the state of the art of the discipline, and outline future research directions. Accepted papers will be published and made available on the ESEM conference website.

Some of the most experienced members of the empirical software engineering community will provide feedback to students in this symposium. In addition, the symposium will facilitate the exchange of ideas among young researchers.

Important deadlines for the symposium:

  • Deadline extension: June 16, 2008: Submission of papers (4-6 pages)
  • July 15, 2008: Notification of acceptance
  • July 30, 2008: Camera-ready copy due
  • Oct 8, 2008: IDoESE Symposium
  • Oct 26, 2008: Session notes will be sent to authors

Updated information about the symposium is available at IDoESE 2008 website.

The symposium is chaired by Professor Dieter Rombach (University of Kaiserslautern and Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering, Kaiserslautern, Germany)
