International Software Engineering Research Network

Call for TOPICS

It's time to start thinking about the agenda for the ISERN meeting that will be held in Kaiserslautern October 6-7 Based on the feedback from the last ISERN meetings, we especially solicit proposals in the areas including, but not limited to, those below:

  • Guidelines for conducting and reporting empirical research (examples are given below)
    • Systematic reviews
    • Qualitative research
  • Topics that are relevant to industry, preferably led by industrial members
  • Generalization from empirical studies
    • Aggregation of Experiments (proposed by N. Juristo)
  • Application domains for empirical studies (examples are given below)
    • Issues in applying empirical software engineering to software architecture. (proposed by G. Cantone)
    • Value-based empirical research
    • Product lines
    • Ambient assisted living
    • Open Source

Please remember that according to ISERN tradition we do not wish to have traditional conference presentations. Proposals that involve interactivity and foster collaboration and networking of ISERN members both during ISERN meeting and between ISERN meetings would be especially appreciated. Additionally, proposals that involve the planning of a tangible product, such as a journal paper on guidelines or a web page, as an outcome of the session are also encouraged.

We are also open to new modes of operation and any other ideas that you have for ISERN meeting, e.g., open space.

Please send your proposals and/or your willingness to volunteer to andreas.jedlitschka@iese.fraunhofer.de and williams@csc.ncsu.edu by March 29. We will communicate with proposers and volunteers and will ultimately determine what will be included in the meeting and who will organize which sessions by May 1 to allow ample time for session organizers to plan their session.

Submit to: andreas.jedlitschka@iese.fraunhofer.de and williams@csc.ncsu.edu
